AOL has joined forces with Warner Bros. Television and NBC to provide an exclusive online debut of the new fall series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and “Twenty Good Years.” The promotional viewing opportunity will allow each show to be viewed commercial-free in their entirety at AOL.com for one week prior to the shows’ network premieres on September 18 and October 11 respectively.

“The buzz has never been higher around an upcoming fall TV season, so we’re especially pleased to give fans early access to two of the year’s most anticipated new series,” said Erik Flannigan, VP of Programming, AOL Television. “These online premieres round out what we feel is the most fan friendly preview of the new season available anywhere on the web.”

In conjunction with the two online premieres, AOL will be featuring detailed information on all eighty-two of this fall’s primetime shows. The television package will include video previews, spoilers, cast info, galleries, quizzes, articles, and a grid for the entire fall lineup.

“We see this offering as a continuation of Warner Bros. Television Group’s firm commitment to our broadcast partners to explore advantageous marketing opportunities that generate excitement and achieve content accessibility for all potential viewers,” added Lisa Gregorian, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Television Group.

Where do old TV shows go when they die? Now, it’s to the online space apparently. Today AOL and Warner Bros. have finally launched In2TV, an ad-supported, broadband on-demand video network that was first announced nearly six months ago. In2TV debuts with a library of Warner Bros. programming spanning 40 years of television history, a library AOL claims is the largest on the web. In addition to old shows like Welcome Back, Kotter, Growing Pains, Kung Fu, F Troop, and Lois & Clark, AOL is also providing interactive features that include viral video, games, polls, and photo galleries.

“In2TV begins to realize the true potential of Web-based TV by putting the viewer in charge of their own TV schedule online,” said Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group president Kevin Tsujihara in a statement. “This opens up new opportunities for platforms and program distributors alike and points to the prospect of exciting new paradigms in online and interactive entertainment soon to come.”

AOL has organized In2TV into several channels by genre like comedy, drama, action, and sci-fi. Each full TV episode of streaming video is free to watch, and will contain approximately 1-2 minutes of advertising. Four advertisers are already attached to the launch: Intel, Kia, Kraft, and Hershey.
