ADOTAS – Local.com and Virgin Mobile USA are launching Local Mobile on the Virgin Mobile USA Network, enabling the mobile company’s 5 million customers to leverage the power of Local Mobile directly from all 3G Virgin Mobile USA handsets.
Local Mobile is an ad-supported local mobile site that provides users with easy access to directory services and search results for local businesses, products and services via their mobile internet service.
“We are pleased that Virgin Mobile USA has integrated Local Mobile into its wireless network catalog,” said Bruce Crair, Local.com president and COO. “This partnership allows Virgin Mobile USA customers to easily access relevant local business information from their mobile devices, and is part of Local.com’s efforts to expand the reach of our Local Mobile product to consumers nationwide.”
Local Mobile enables users to access:
• Local business information based on simple “what” and “where” directory search
• Business profile pages, complete with mapping
• Driving directions
• Click-to-call functionality
• Listings sent to a mobile phone or device via SMS
• Results sorted by relevance, distance or name
The Kelsey Group forecasts that U.S. mobile search advertising revenues will grow to $1.4 billion by 2012.

Limbo, Virgin Mobile Team Up on Mobile Promos

ADOTAS – Mobile entertainment community Limbo today announced a one-year agreement with Virgin Mobile USA, Inc. to provide exclusive programs for Virgin’s 5 million customers. Monthly and quarterly promos will also be featured in SMS blasts on Virgin XL in tandem with Limbo’s interactive mobile content.

The pass-on rate of the promotions is impressive, according to the numbers provided by the company.

“Limbo’s interactive content is producing tangible business results for Virgin Mobile USA, increasing SMS usage among participating customers. Participants indicate an increase in brand affinity and the viral spread is powerful, with over 70% of participants telling at least one friend about the promotion,” said Bob Stohrer, CMO for Virgin Mobile USA, in a release.

The monthly campaigns have begun, allowing customers to play either Limbo Grab or Limbo Unique via SMS or WAP for the chance to win such prizes as $1,000 cash, a 42” LCD TV or a 2008 convertible Mustang.

Limbo leverages its platform – including SMS, mobile Web, mobile video, the Internet and e-mail – to integrate brands into games, content and communities.

JumpTap, Inc. Helping Virgin Mobile Keep It Local

Virgin Mobile USA, announced it is extending its mobile search functionality by integrating a WAP-based local search application from JumpTap, Inc., a pioneer in the development of innovative, carrier-centric mobile search technology.

Launching this week, the new local search application enables Virgin Mobile USA customers to type in specific search terms, along with a zip code or city and state, to find anything local. The new capabilities also allow customers to search for local maps and directions to and from destinations, from their mobile phones. Virgin Mobile now offers on-and off-portal search in one WAP-based application.

Since February, JumpTap’s white label mobile search engine has been “behind the scenes,” helping Virgin Mobile USA’s customers quickly discover the broadest amount of content, such as ringtones, wallpapers, graphics and games — both from within Virgin Mobile’s own suite of content (on-portal), as well as out on the mobile Web (off-portal). Virgin Mobile USA also uses JumpTap’s mobile services to organize and deliver relevant results to customers’ mobile phones through both sponsored and organic links, providing relevant information that is easy to read and navigate.
