May advertsing revenues rising 32.6% year-over-year to $7.4 million, About.com credits both cost-per-click and display advertising. There is also attribution given to the recent aquisitions of UCompareHealthCare.com and ConsumerSearch.com.

While the company claims display advertising is up due to strength in the Internet, pharmaceutical and technology categories, the Times reports Internet ad revenue rose 21.4% in May because of both classified and display advertising.

TimesSelect, a fee-based piece of The New York Times has stated it has 741,000 subscribers. 60% of subscribers are receiving it with their print subscription, 30% through online-only subcriptions, and 10% receive it free as educators and college students.

According to Nielsen/NetRatings, the New York Times Company’s 30 Web sites have the 11th-largest presence on the Web with 43.8 million unique visitors. That’s an 11% increase from last year.
