AOL’s Platform-A honcho Lynda Clarizio is firing scores of staffers today, according to a Silicon Alley Insider report.

A source told the blog that the bloodletting will begin today, and the dead pool will amount to “less than 500.” Severance packages reportedly “stink.” AOL told the Insider that today was not the only day firings would occur (joy!) and that the dead pool would amount to a mere 100.

Earlier this week, comScore released data reporting that Platform-A is the top interactive advertising network, reaching 91% of American Internet users.

You’re in luck: an interactive advertising supported, multi-platform media company has been formed to provide a peek into the “complete Italian American experience,” the Italian American Network recently announced.

The video platform www.ItalianAmericanNetwork.com was launched first, but the company says it’s committed to launching a TV network, a video-on-demand offering, a mobile content platform in addition to other home entertainment and publishing initiatives.

“As someone who grew up in an Italian American household, I have an intimate understanding of the countless traditions and experiences that are part of a culture that millions of Americans have fallen in love with throughout the years,” founder and CEO Tony Ceglio said in a release. “Embracing this experience, the Italian American Network will offer compelling, contemporary lifestyle programming featuring the beauty, pleasures and passions of a country and a culture that for more than 500 years have enriched our country with the same. There is no lifestyle that has become more admired and envied than the Italian La Dolce Vita – the sweet life. Beginning with its initial broadband video launch, I A NET will celebrate everything Italian in an entertaining and informative way, regardless of the media platform.”

The ad-sponsored platform’s charter sponsors include Perillo Tours and ShowWineandDine.com. The network features programs that cover food, travel, health, Italian superstitions and more.

ADOTAS — JuicyCampus.com, a controversial Web site that publishes anonymous, unverified, and usually mean-spirited gossip about college students has become the target of unflattering chatter itself of late.

It’s also in the crosshairs of prosecutors in New Jersey who subpoenaed its records to find out of the site violates the state’s Consumer Fraud Act by stating it does not allow offensive material but failing to actually enforce the rule, New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram said earlier this week.

Ad marketplace AdBrite and Google have also been roped into the investigation. JuicyCampus reportedly used both ad networks in the past, but both companies terminated their relationships with the site, saying they clearly violated their terms of service.

“AdBrite terminated the account belonging to JuicyCampus about three weeks ago,” Paul Levine, vice president of marketing for AdBrite said via e-mail. “We removed them as soon as we discovered they were trying to use our service; they were only around for a few days. We regularly remove users who do not meet AdBrite’s standards.”

Levine added that AdBrite was subpoenaed by the New Jersey Attorney General “as part of the case being built against Juicy Campus. They’ve asked us for the details on how Juicy Campus represented themselves in the sign-up process and such. But there is no implication by the N.J. attorney of any wrongdoing by AdBrite. We have been cooperating fully with the N.J. Attorney’s investigation of Juicy — that’s the extent of our involvement at this point.”

While the ad networks really have nothing to fear, JuicyCampus’ future is uncertain at best.

Sigma Phi Epsilon frat brother Matt Ivester founded JuicyCampus in August of 2007 and while the site has cooperated with police probes of random postings that threaten violence or campus shootings, its content has raised the ire of students and campuses around the country. Some colleges, such as Columbia University, are threatening to ban the site completely and countless students have complained after being outed or maligned as the campus’ “biggest slut.”

Aeria will have access to over 1,000 Flash-based casual games from MochiAds network in addition to their existing catalog of PC downloadable games as part of the deal. They will be launched as a new Mini Games section that will be integrated into the site. This partnership brings many Flash games to Aeria that are monetized through pre-game and inter-level advertisements displayed to users during natural breaks in game play.

The existing MMO games under Aeria are monetized through micro-transactions where users buy virtual goods, typically under three dollars, to improve game play. The gaming community supports over 1.4 million users, and has already launched five new MMO games in the past six months alone.

JT Nguyen, CMO of Aeria Games stated “Aeria Games has a vibrant and dynamic gaming community. They look to us to deliver high-quality, innovative content, and the partnership with MochiAds provides us with the ability to deliver.”

Jameson Hsu, CEO of Mochi Media said “We’re very excited to be partnering with Aeria Games. Our online games are a great complement to the massively multiplayer online games with Aeria, and the community members will benefit from the engaging content in our catalog.”
