Earlier we reported that podcast search engine PodZinger was providing search services for the popular video podcast RocketBoom. Well, they’ve done it again. This time with tech video podcast commandN, which covers general tech news, demos, and product reviews. It’s a weekly podcast, and it has video archives going back to June 2005, nearly a year’s worth of content.

“There’s a number of content creators out there that are separating themselves as leaders in this world. And commandN, Rocketboom, and others are defining what it takes to make a great experience,” said PodZinger CEO Alex Laats, “First of all you need to have great content, and second of all you need to be able to find that great content. And third of all you want to be able to monetize that content as much as possible in order to keep on providing great content.” PodZinger’s video search, which uses speech-to-text technology to turn the audio from each episode into searchable text, now powers the commandN archives.

PodZinger’s technology can begin playing an episode at the exact point that a particular search term appeared. Right now PodZinger is focused on delivering high quality search and a good user experience, but Laats assured ADOTAS that their search partnerships are only a precursor to some form of podcast archive monetization. “Monetization of content requires relevant search,” said Laats, “because relevant search connects users with the content that they want, and advertisers want to reach that consumer through the content that the consumer wants.”

PodZinger search is available on the commandN home page. Like the regular PodZinger search, a player for relevant podcast episodes appears along the left hand side, and episode text snippets containing search terms appears under a description of the related episode. Like PodZinger’s Rocketboom search, the results page features a PodZinger logo. But it’s entirely integrated into the commandN site.
