Marc Guldimann is the CSO of Spongecell. As Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder, Marc is responsible for the overall vision and direction of the company.

With more than a decade of experience at Internet and technology firms worldwide, Marc has special expertise in the field of wireless network security, with which he has been involved since its infancy. He is skilled at presenting complex networking products to both technical and business audiences and has extensive experience advising corporate executives regarding emerging and competitive technologies as well as prospective partners. He has a proven track record of sales to large enterprises and educational institutions across the globe.

Marc’s technical skills include wireless technologies, network security, authentication, operating systems, mobile devices and web technologies. He is equally comfortable selling and marketing these technologies as he is engineering them. Involved in the emerging wireless network security industry since 1999, he co-developed and implemented the first wireless virus filter, for Vernier Networks, where he also trained value-added resellers and original equipment manufacturers in the technology’s use. Marc’s wireless virus filter was first used successfully at the University of California at Berkley.

Marc led technical sales and marketing efforts for both Network Chemistry and Vernier Networks, where he handled accounts in the enterprise, education and healthcare sectors. He served as an advisor to the Frankfurt Airport and worked closely with ABN Amro, General Motors, Kodak and Siemens.

Recognizing early on that his talents lay in diverse fields of emerging technologies, Marc got his entrepreneurial start in high school, during which he founded his first company, Pinnacle Web Design, a network and web design consultancy. He held internships and spent summers during high school and college handling technical support and technology development for PANIX, Stargate Industries and Informatica Corporation.

Recognized as an expert on wireless local area networks and a variety of emerging technologies, Marc is often called upon to write white papers and make presentations at industry events. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Social Decision Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University.
