Winners announced for Adweek’s Project Isaac Award

(ADOTAS) New York, NY (Sept. 22, 2014) – ADWEEK, the leading resource for media, marketing and advertising news, today announces its 2014 Project Isaac and Isaac+ Award winners, honoring inventors expanding the realm of possibility and transforming media, advertising, marketing and technology with new products and concepts. This year’s winners are showcased in ADWEEK’s Invention Issue out today and on the Project Isaac hub at
Taking this year’s Gravity Award, the top honor chosen from the pool of Gold Project Isaac winners, is FCB Brazil for their SolarAd Charger developed for NiveaSun. Inserted in Brazil’s VEJA magazine, beachgoers could let the NiveaSun ad page gather solar energy throughout the day and charge their phones without ever leaving the sand.
“As digital technology and the vibrant maker culture transform advertising and marketing in fascinating ways, invention—creating true firsts—is how brands and their agency partners will transform their businesses,” says James Cooper, ADWEEK’s Editorial Director. “We launched ADWEEK Project Isaac to recognize and celebrate the inventive spirit in this disruptive environment.”
New this year, ADWEEK and KBS partnered to create the Isaac+ Award, which provides student inventors an opportunity to compete within the Project Isaac Award program. Winners were selected by a separate jury comprised of KBS chief executives lead by Lori Senecal, global executive chairman of KBS and president and CEO of MDC Partner Network. The Isaac+ Gold Award went to Alan Shpakovski and Selena Davant of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for “Tree of Life”, a solar powered tree-like installation that provides energy and WI-FI to those nearby. The winning team was brought to New York for a chance to see their concept through to prototype, utilizing KBS resources and facilities. A final showcase of the winning entry will take place during Advertising Week, September 29 – October 3 in New York City.
“KBS has long championed invention and the pursuit of creating true firsts, and there’s no better way to encourage and support the inventors and makers of tomorrow than by giving them an opportunity to bring their inventions to life and honoring their brightest ideas,” says Lori Senecal. “The first ever Isaac+ Gold Award winners, Alan Shpakovski and Selena Davant represent an immense pool of young, talented inventors and we congratulate all of the entrants on their efforts.”
