NEW YORK, January 15, 2014 (ADOTAS) — Tapad, the leader in cross-device marketing technology, today announced that it has appointed George Gemelos (puctured) to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Data Science. He is based at Tapad’s New York headquarters and reports to Tapad Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dag Liodden.
Gemelos will lead the data science function at Tapad, designing models that demonstrate the effectiveness of Tapad’s products. In collaboration with Tapad’s engineering team and industry experts, Gemelos will develop new ways to measure the performance of the company’s proprietary Device Graph, which anonymously connects billions of devices by individual user so that advertisers and publishers can get a unified view of consumers across all screens.
Gemelos has more than 10 years of experience in research and machine learning in areas as diverse as quantitative investing, biochemistry and genetics. Most recently, he served as director at scientific research firm D.E. Shaw Research, where he directed the operation and development of supercomputers specialized for molecular dynamic simulation. Prior to that, he rose to Vice President of Research at genetic services firm Natera, directing research and development of new products in reproductive genetic diagnostics, among other responsibilities. Gemelos holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in electrical engineering and an M.S. in mathematics from Stanford University.
