SAN DIEGO, November 6, 2013 (ADOTAS) – Covario, Inc. today announced that Russ Mann (pictured) has been elected chairman of the board and that three established operating executives – Mike Gullaksen, Jeff Johnson, and Claire Long – will now serve as the operating heads of the global search and content marketing firm.
For the last three years, Gullaksen and Johnson have been serving as co-managing directors of the firm’s search and content marketing agency. Moving forward, they will now lead the company as co-chief executive officers together with Long, who joined Covario in 2012 as chief financial and operating officer. The leadership team will be responsible for overall revenue growth, operational excellence and client satisfaction.
Since Gullaksen and Johnson joined Covario five years ago, much of its growth has come about as a global search marketing agency. Covario was ranked earlier this year by Advertising Age magazine as one of the ten largest U.S. search agencies – the fastest-growing search firm among those with annual revenues of at least $20 million. The company was also named by MediaPost as the Search Marketing Agency of the Year consecutively in 2012 and 2011.
In addition, Covario was the only privately-held firm selected for inclusion in the last two Forrester Research Wave reports of leading search marketing agencies, which were published in 2011 and 2012. The company’s software unit was also cited as “the only leader” in the first Forrester Wave of SEO software platforms issued in October 2012.
During two customer surveys over the course of 2013, Covario received its highest Net Promoter Scores ever – a key indicator of overall client satisfaction.
“Due in large measure to Russ’ untiring efforts, passion and dedication, Covario has risen to the top-tier of search marketing firms,” said board member Eric Byunn. “Our investors, clients and employees owe him our sincere gratitude. We’re pleased that Russ has agreed to serve as chairman of the board, while transitioning operational leadership to this accomplished and established executive team consisting of Jeff and Mike and Claire. This new leadership team is supported by many of the world’s best search, social and content marketing professionals, operating in a culture of entrepreneurial independence and operational excellence.”
Although Mann will no longer serve as CEO, he will support the leadership transition in his new role as chairman. Since the company’s founding seven years ago, Mann has been instrumental in its rise to become one of the world’s preeminent search, social and content marketing agencies, as well as a leading SEO and social media technology provider.
“While taking Covario to new heights,” Johnson said, “Mike, Claire and I remain totally committed to the company’s vision focused on passion, innovation and partnership.”
