ADOTAS — The three-day Google I/O conference kicks off today at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, promising to introduce “the tech world’s latest web, mobile and social breakthroughs to create simple, life-improving technologies and viable businesses among a rich and diverse community of cutting edge developers.”
Acccoding to Business Insider (via AppleInsider), Google is expected to unveil the next-generation of the Nexus 7 tablet at the conference, and also release an Android Book laptop, a Google “over-the-top” (OTT) TV box, and a smartwatch. The new Nexus model will reportedly feature upgraded specs like a high-resolution screen, a better camera, and wireless charging, as well as get a jump on the iPad Mini 2.
Meanwhile, Joanna Stern of ABC News reports that Google is expected to talk about everything from its Android operating system to Google Maps to its Google Plus social network. And The Verge broke the news exclusively yesterday that the company will detail its new Spotify competitor. Other reports suggest that a new gaming service called Google Play Games, which will allow users to play each other over the Internet, will also be discussed at the gathering.
