Daily Grommet, the online marketplace and product launch platform for undiscovered consumer products, today announced the second tranche of investment by Rakuten, the third largest online marketplace in the world, and a rebrand that includes a name change to The Grommet. This investment makes Rakuten the major stakeholder in the business.  Rakuten first invested in The Grommet in August 2012, when it led a round of Series B funding in the company. Today’s investment solidifies the shared vision the companies have to empower and enhance consumer experience in e-commerce by curating innovative products while telling their stories via video and social channels. The consolidation of resources will provide The Grommet platform access to a global base of undiscovered consumer products. The Grommet will further advance Rakuten’s sourcing and storytelling capabilities and deepen the connections between consumers and merchants.

New Media Metrics today announced the appointment of Bob Pares to EVP of Sales Business Development, a new position at the company. Pares joins NMM from Kantar Media’s Global TGI Group, where he was U.S. Head of Sales and Business Development. In his new position, Pares will lead the company’s business-development efforts, with particular emphasis on optimizing NMM’s syndicated research offerings — a comprehensive portfolio of products/services that leverage emotional attachment by aligning high-value buyers with media content. This comes on the heels of NMM’s recent launch of its LEAP™ Content Investment Marketplace, expansion into multiculutral and the recent additions of BET and Essence magazine to its client roster.

Brainshark, Inc., the leading sales enablement platform provider, today announced the appointment of Larry DiLoreto as senior vice president of sales and chief revenue officer. In this role, DiLoreto is responsible for directing and managing Brainshark’s worldwide sales and revenue strategies. A seasoned sales and technology executive with a track record of global success, DiLoreto adds to the depth of Brainshark’s management team – helping the company extend its market leadership and momentum. Prior to Brainshark, DiLoreto served as executive vice president and chief revenue officer at SmartBear Software. Previously, he was vice president of global sales at Qvidian. He also held executive positions at Progress Software, overseeing the company’s North America and Asia Pacific sales and field operations, and also developing its China and India operations.
