Hi. I’m Mike Daly, and I’m the new editor at Adotas. My job is to get you to visit us and keep coming back. And given my 30 or so years in publishing, I have a few ideas on how to do that. But by far, the most obvious idea I’ve come up with is to make the site about you.
Well, not entirely about you. Also the people you work with.
And your friends in the industry.
And your rivals.
And even your enemies.
Most of my background is in community journalism. In fact, I’ve come to Adotas from a hyperlocal print/web news organization in Westchester County, N.Y. When a colleague of mine asked me why I was leaving that job for this one, here’s how I responded:
“It’s not all that different, really; I’m trading one community for another.”
So yeah, I’ve moved in down the block, and you and I are neighbors now.
I’ve only just started to get a sense of the lay of the land and the people who inhabit it. If this were a brick-and-mortar community, I’d be asking you where to get the best pizza and Chinese food, what supermarket offers the best bang for the buck, and which store has the most varied beer selection.
But in this virtual world of ours, I want to find out what’s going on at your place, what sites you’ve been checking out lately, what your favorite new app is, and what’s your next big idea that’s gonna completely shake things up.
In other words, I want you to tell me what you want to read about, and then work my ass off to give it to you.
So drop me a line to introduce yourself. Let me know what kinds of content would attract you to Adotas and hold your interest. And once we establish that and you’re visiting us on a regular basis, by all means use the “Comment” feature to let us know whether you think an article is awesome, mediocre or flat-out sucks.
We want Adotas to be your go-to site for industry news, features and commentary. Let’s work together to make that happen.
See you at the next block party.
