Welcome Aboard: New Hires at 33Across, StumbleUpon, BlueKai, PointRoll, More


ADOTAS – It’s another Friday, and it’s time for us to share some news about people in all corners of the digital advertising and marketing space whose careers are almost as hot as the weather here in New York. (Almost as hot. Sorry, we’re thrilled to see companies growing and names we recognize popping up with new job titles attached, but it’s really hot here right now.) Have we missed any? Let us know. The rundown:

Content discovery engine provider StumbleUpon has named Cody Simms its vice president of product. He’d previously spent seven years at Yahoo!, where he’d most recently been vice president of product management.

Social/interest graph operator 33Across has hired Chung Cheong as vice president of product management and Neil Fried as vice president of business development. Cheong had previously been vice president of advertising and publisher solutions at AT&T Interactive, while Fried had been director of business development at Yahoo!.

John Haskin is now vice president of marketing for contextual technology provider Vibrant Media. He’d previously held the same position at WebMD.

Data activation system provider BlueKai has named Cory Treffiletti senior vice president of marketing. This is a new role for the company. Treffiletti comes from Catalyst S+F, where he’d served as president.

Self-styled “digital presence management” company Limelight Networks appointed Kirby Wadsworth chief marketing officer, a newly-created position. He had previously been vice president of global marketing for F5 Networks.

Data/database marketing solutions provider Infogroup Targeting Solutions announced four executive hires this week. Heather Baynes, formerly of Equifax Direct Marketing Services, has been named vice president of enterprise sales. Sandra Jones, previously of D&B, joins as sales director. Bob Lewis, formerly of eBay company GSI, was named vice president of business development. And Steve Perks, formerly of salesforce.com’s data.com, is now manager of data sales.

Bob Shaffer has been promoted to the position of vice president of East Coast sales for digital marketing services provider and Gannett subsidiary PointRoll. Earlier, he’d been East Coast sales manager, and before that he’d worked for AccuWeather.com.

Ad agency RPA announced four promotions within its creative department: Tom Hamling was named vice president and creative director, Ken Pappanduros tapped as creative director, and Hobart Birmingham and Perrin Anderson both named associate creative directors.

Ad agency Firehouse appointed Sarah Avery to the position of public relations director. She had previously been director of corporate communications at Caelus Energy, LLC.

Kevin Gentzel has been named chief revenue officer for online video platform provider NDN. He had previously spent over 13 years at Forbes, leading sales and marketing initiatives and building sales/marketing teams.

Customer experience solutions provider Globys has named Dr. Olly Downs its senior vice president of data sciences. Downs had previously served as chief scientist for ad platform AdReady and semantic platform provider Atigeo.

USA Today announced the creation of USA Today Sports Digital Properties and named Chris Pirrone its general manager. He comes from Traffic Marketplace, where he’d been general manager of premium display, mobile and video digital advertising.

And a board appointment for good measure: Social media platform Talenthouse named SGN CEO and MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe to its board of directors.
