Five Tips for Keeping your Content Engine Running Smoothly

ADOTAS - More and more marketers these days are finding that content is becoming increasingly valuable as a way of growing brand awareness, promoting thought leadership and generating leads. Those who can keep up the pace by providing their potential customers with relevant and valuable content are seeing results. Recent research from HubSpot found that companies who blog have 55 percent more website visitors and 434 percent more indexed pages than those who do not.

The problem many marketers face, however, is finding the time to generate this content and keeping it high-quality, timely and interesting to their audiences. A recent survey my company conducted found that 69 percent of marketers cited limited time as their biggest content marketing challenge, followed by creating original content at 66 percent.

The good news is that content marketing does not have to take up hours of the day. Below are some tips that will keep your content marketing efforts grade-A without eating up your lunch break.

1. Curate third party content.

Setting up technology that allows you to find, organize and share content is key in cutting down the time demanded by content marketing. In addition to creating your own content, sharing your competitors’ content and relevant articles will encourage viewers to see your site as a trusted source on what’s current in the industry.

2. Create a “Tweetable” post.

Pull together a post compiled of interesting facts that can be easily shared as pre-drafted tweets. Not only will it be easy for your readers to distribute these directly through social media, their tweets will also link back to your blog. Tweetable blog posts can be drafted quite easily using services like Click to Tweet. Check out an example here.

3. Ask a question.

Simple survey questions or polls can make a quick blog post that is bound to engage the audience. Ask readers to comment with their vote. Once you obtain the results, create another post to share the results with your readers.

4. Tap into someone else’s expertise.

Some of the most interesting blog posts come from interviews. Do you have a customer who may have interesting insights to an industry trend? Ask them to share their thoughts. This can be as easy as sending a few questions via e-mail. When you get the response, turn it into a Q&A post.

5. Invite a guest.

Guest bloggers are a good way to mix up your original content and engage a new audience by associating yourself with someone outside of your company. They also save you the time you would have spent writing the content yourself. As an added bonus, if the guest tweets the article and promotes it via their website, it can increase both your blog’s and your brand’s visibility.

Reader Comments.

Great suggestions.

One thing that’s helped me is to chose topics that I’m passionate about. I’m rarely at a loss for words and having my blog scheduled out for a couple weeks means that I can take a break from writing and focus more on social media.
