ADOTAS – And here I thought it was the menial labor that attracted SEO professionals to the fray. A new report by Conductor claims that SEO pros spend 40% of their time on repetitive, manual operations that could be automated via an SEO platform — something like Conductor’s Searchlight offering.

Research found that, sans platform, SEO pros spend 57% of their time on low-impact activities (e.g., on-page auditing, tech issues, rank tracking, etc.) and only 43% of their time on medium- (keyword research, mining web analytics) and high-impact labor (link building, content creation). With an SEO platform, the same professionals spend 35% of their on the drudgery and 65% on medium- and high-impact tasks.

The infographic below features some interesting visualizations of the data in “The Unoptimized SEO,” which suggests that using an SEO platform is 340% more effective than manual rank tracking. The full report can be downloaded here.
