ADOTAS – InMobi has integrated its new performance-based mobile payments system SmartPay into its global mobile ad network. Already active for numerous clients, the payments system is rolling into private beta over the next two to three months before opening to the masses in third-quarter 2011. For starters, SmartPay is up and running in US, UK, Germany, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Malaysia.
SmartPay offers app developers, gaming companies and mobile content providers a single reference point for handling mobile payments — the technology will handle regulatory fraud, tax, currency, and settlement issues for 3 billion consumers across 30 countries by the end of the year, InMobi says. Because SmartPay is integrated into the mobile ad network that serves nearly 32 billion ads monthly, InMobi will be able to share transaction performance insights that stem from impression to conversion.
The new mobile checkout services currently only allow direct-to-carrier billing, but will expand to credit cards, PayPal and other payment services by the end of the year.
