HuffPo and Yahoo Vet Coleman Becomes President of Criteo

bossADOTAS – Retargeter Criteo has roped in quite the big fish as its new president — Greg Coleman, most recently the president and chief revenue officer of The Huffington Post. Criteo, which opened U.S. operations last year and shifted its headquarters to Palo Alto, is tapping Coleman to drive further expansion in the U.S.

At HuffPo, recently acquired by AOL for $315 million, Coleman reportedly built a $30 million ad business in one year. Before a short stint at AOL (that ended with a lucrative severance agreement), Coleman was the executive vice president of global sales at Yahoo, where he buddied up with Madison Avenue and built a sales team that grew revenue tenfold — from $600 million to $6 billion.

Oh yeah, he also got a pretty nice exit deal from Y! — other media outlets seem to be obsessed with Coleman’s luck with severance packages.

Criteo investor Toby Coppel, who previously worked with Coleman at Yahoo, had some high praise: “He can make Criteo the industry standard.” Interesting comment as Criteo’s CPC pricing scheme differs from most players in the retargeting space.
