Yahoo Launches Personalized Digital Newsstand

yahoo_smallADOTAS – Yahoo apparently wants to give Flipboard a run for its money — the content portal that keeps on chugging today introduced personalized digital newsstand Livestand.

Initially for tablet users, Livestand will offer interest-based content to users from a wealth of publishers. But that’s not all — the content will also be based on geographic location and time of day.

In addition, advertising within Livestand will use targeting technology, including geolocation. “[W]e’re using ad formats that evoke the emotion of TV advertising with a highly-visual magazine-like experience,” said Blake Irving, Yahoo executive vice president and chief product officer.
