ADOTAS – Smartphone Sales Top PCs. According to research group IDC, handset makers shipped 100.9 million smartphones globally during the fourth quarter of 2010 (an 87% jump from the year before) compared to 92.1 million PCs shipped by computer makers (a 3% increase over 4Q 2009).
Universal iPhone? A teardown of the Verizon iPhone 4 ifixit has discovered the Qualcomm CDMA chip installed for Verizon’s network can also be used on GSM networks.
Video Twit. Twitpic, which has been incredibly valuable in spreading on-the-ground images from the protests in Egypt, has launched support for video. Users will be able to upload video from Twitpic’s site, email and supporting clients. Founder Noah Everett told Mashable that Twitpic is “trying to be a one-stop-shop for users to share their media on Twitter in real-time.”

In celebration of “Say NO to PowerPoint Week,” cloud-based presentation tool SlideRocket, which Adotas wrote about last spring, has introduced a slew of free templates to help the non-design-inclined presentation builders out there. The company is also raffling off a professional account a day to those that sign up this week.
