Zynga’s New Toy Is… Newtoy
ADOTAS – For the social gaming giant’s seventh acquisition in as many months, Zynga scooped up Newtoy, a two-year-old mobile gaming company based in Texas. The two companies had apparently been partnering for a while under the codename “Jet Pack.”
As the acquired company has witnessed success with mobile games like “Chess With Friends” and “Words With Friends” (downloaded 12 million times doe the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch), Newtoy’s studio will be rebranded Zynga With Friends Studio. Founders and brothers David and Paul Bettner will remain in charge.
Back in October, Zynga acquired Bonfire, another Texas operation that was formed from the ashes of PC and Xbox game developer Ensemble Software.
