AddThis Profiles Publishers’ Influencers

thumbs_small.jpgADOTAS – The term influencers still makes me think about the older kids in high school who offered me hit off their joint as I walked home from school, but influencers are quite a different case in social media — they’re the ones bringing browsers back to your site. And instead of kicking them out of school, you want to out what else interest them so you can further optimize their content.

Enter the latest generation of social analytics for publishers introduced by social sharing platform AddThis from Clearspring. The enhanced solution garners more insight into what intrigues a publishers’ most influential users through the Implicit Interest Graph. Interests are determined by user behavior rather that clicks on some kind of “enjoy” button and then categorized by levels of intensity.

“People’s interests are not binary. We do not just like or dislike something. For example, I don’t just ‘like’ movies about comic books — I love them. That difference is priceless,” said Clearspring CEO Hooman Radfar. “Using this new platform, we can understand interests more granularly. It’s like going from a black and white TV set to color.”

Used by more than 7.2 million unique domains, AddThis enables more than 1 billion unique users to share content through social channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. So AddThis is an enabler… That also seems to have a very different meaning in social marketing — it’s not a thing like my roommate who says it’s OK to drink a whole 12-pack because it’s “lite” beer.

Reader Comments.

I am an Award Winning Canadian author, in love with science and technologies. Just recently (some three weeks ago) I started to experiment with Twitter, Twitpic, Facebook, LINKED in, Google, etc. and today I discovered AddThis. It fascinates me! The newsletter will educate me since I am (a few hours) junior in the field. Thank you for the technology. I find it very valuable. The Twitting and Facebooking was simplified to a great degree. Now I have more time for writing. Please, introduce me to whatever information available for publishers and authors. Being a new author can be a bit intimidating, yet these superior tools make advertising fun.
Sincerely, Elysse Poetis
