ADOTAS – As RockMelt’s new browser search window previews forced its hand, Google officially began rolling out Google Instant previews, which offer previews of actual landing pages within the search results page.
Click on the magnifying glass next to a result and you can glance at an image of the actual page. TechCrunch’s Erick Schoenfeld has already performed a comparison of RockMelt and Google Instant previews and found that while Google loads faster, the previews are merely images — RockMelt actually loads the sites.
I first mentioned search previews last month and asked a bunch of search heavies to weigh in on what effects it would have on the industry. I wish I could pick and pull the best observations, but I strongly suggest reading the article because the full comments are both insightful and divergent.
