Vanity Fair Crowns Zuck Silicon Caesar

facebook_small.jpgADOTAS – Hail Caesar and his Silicon Valley kingdom. Vanity Fair has taken some time out from skewering former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin to place Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the top of its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

VF notes that Facebook leads the entire web in display impressions and claims the network’s revenue could hit $2 billion this year, a bit of of a jump from eMarketer’s $1.285 billion estimate. However the magazine stays mum on privacy issues, user discontent, rivals in the shadow, a forthcoming piece of cinema that paints Zuck as a jackass, etc…

Zuck seems to be at the head of the ruling triumverate, with Steve Jobs taking the second position and the three-headed Cerebus of Sergey Brin, Larry Page and Eric Schmidt standing on the third-place mantle. Those fine Twitter boys Evan Williams and Biz Stone rolled in at number 3.

Some geriatric Australian was ranked number 4 — I think he might own a social network, or something resembling one…
