Motorola Says Aloha Aloqa

skipping_smallADOTAS – Motorola is boosting its Motoblur mobile social network with through the acquisition of location-based software developer Aloqa.

The company will fall under Motorola Mobility — a combination of Motorola’s Mobile Devices and Home businesses — which the company is planning to spin off in the first quarter of next year.

Aloqa’s technology — which recognizes a users location and social relationships to present relevant places, events and offers — has been downloaded as a mobile app by more than 1 million users across multiple smartphone platforms. It will be integrated into Motoblur — Motorola’s mobile portal that features email, messaging and social network updates — to perform location-based push functions.
