Google to Leave China April 10th?

ear_small.jpgADOTAS – According to the China Business News, Google Inc may make an announcement next Monday about whether it will pull out from China. And Bloomberg News is reporting April 10th may be the day google withdraws operations from China. Google has not officially made any announcement, but the question seems to be shifting from if to when, the search giant will walk away from the largest and fastest growing online market on the planet.

Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said last week he hoped to have an outcome soon from talks with Chinese officials on offering an uncensored search engine in the country. But the rumor mill has obviously been buzzing about the issue. And if Google is king of the information age they aren’t doing much to control the flow of speculation as to weather or not they’re leaving China, and if so, when.

The spat between Beijing and Google epitomizes the political rift between the top down one party system, which heavily censors information available to their citizens, and the relative freedom of expression which has been the most democratizing technological breakthrough in human history. Stay tuned, to find out which fork in the road Google officially takes. This publication supports Googles insistence on freedom of expression over censorship.
