Display, but Nothing Else, Hops on YouTube Mobile Site

youtube_small.jpgADOTAS – Google has officially opened the gate to display advertising on the  home, search and browsing pages of the YouTube mobile website, but other advertising channels on the online site remain fenced-off from mobile.

Similar to YouTube’s homepage, advertisers buy all the inventory on the mobile site daily. As traffic on the YouTube mobile site increased by 160% over 2009, Google aims to make it simple for advertisers to extend their online YouTube campaigns to mobile — the first taker is Mazda.

However, the display ads only go to people who view the mobile website, not those that access YouTube through mobile apps. Also “Promoted Video” ads still do not appear for mobile users, and neither do in-stream or in-placement ads.
