Twitter Deal Boosts Yahoo!’s Social Hub

yahoo_smallADOTAS – Although Google Buzz is getting all the negative hubbub lately, it seems Yahoo! has created a similar social hub based on its open strategy and partnerships, such as the integration of Facebook Connect in December. In its latest inclusive move, Yahoo! has expanded its partnership with Twitter using the latter’s APIs.

While real-time Twitter activity on its search results page Yahoo! will soon include relevant Twitter feeds on its highly popular media and entertainment sites such as Yahoo! Sports.  Yahoo! Updates, a social media platform integrated with Yahoo!’s mail service and messenger as well as content properties, will offer users Twitter updates and the ability to post directly to the micro-blogger.

Updates is designed to give Yahoo! users a vantage point of the action across the entire Yahoo! network — integrating Facebook Connect and Twitter certainly expands that horizon to nearly the whole social mediascape. It sounds like the dream behind Google Buzz — a handy-dandy social dashboard — but Yahoo!’s partnership plays may have given them the better service.
