Online Vids Gobbled Up in December
ADOTAS – Brian Hjelm claimed that 2010 will be the year of video advertising as consumers increasingly digest video on their computers and mobile devices. The December 2009 numbers from comScore’s Video Metrix service are certainly backing up this claim, as U.S. Internet user watched 33.2 billion videos that month — a gain of 2 billion on November.
According to comScore, 178 million U.S. Internet users watched online video during December at an average of 187 videos per viewer. That’s a boost of 18 million viewers from November, but only five more videos per user.
Google’s sites took the top ranking for video content property, with YouTube taking 99% credit for the 135.8 million unique viewers. More than 13 billion vids were devoured on the site, with each user averaging 97.1 videos.
Tremor Media boasted the highest penetration in terms of actual reach by video network with 30.5%, followed by BrightRoll with 21.7% and BBE with 21.2%.
