ADOTAS – While conferences have lost a little bit of networking luster as budgets tighten with the economic downturn, they’re still a top resource for B2B folks to make contacts — and to market. Conference hosts are keeping up with technology, increasingly employing virtual events and now even harnessing the power of mobile apps.
Mobile app platform Mobile Roadie has partnered with the Future of Web Apps (FOWA) conference, taking place Feb. 22-24 in Miami, to introduce the first Android conference app, as well as the first app from Mobile Roadie’s soon to be unveiled Android app platform.
This is not the first conference app that Mobile Roadie has released, with successful trial runs coming from the LeWeb Paris 2009 conference and the Midem music conference. In particular, the LeWeb app had 6,000 downloads, more than the actual number of attendees. Hence a conference app holds the same power of virtual event — the ability to reach interested parties that could not attend a physical conference. Pretty neat.
Mobile Roadie’s DIY platform makes it easy for conference organizers and event promoters to swiftly build content rich mobile apps that not only promote the event, highlight speakers and display the schedule, but also sell tickets. Plus integrated social media tools allow viral sharing.
iPhone users can give the FOWA app a test run here. Mobile Roadie CEO and cofounder Michael Schneider will be demoing the app onstage on Feb. 23.
