Millennial Media, the Silent Giant, Speaks!

mobiletv.jpgADOTAS – Mobile fever is sweeping across the interactive advertising community — that far-fetched idea of transporting video and rich media ads into on-the-go consumers’ hands is quite the reality. And brands have seen the potential and want in.

So it’s not that surprising that a mobile advertising network took the top slot of the OnMedia 100. Even though it doesn’t get a lot of press hype, Millennial Media found itself in the position of the leading independent and the largest mobile ad network. OnMedia gave it the fitting moniker of “silent giant.”

“We keep our head down,” President and CEO Paul Palmieri said. “Our priority has been serving our customers and not necessarily getting headlines. We’ve just been focused — not silent, but focused.”

A great deal of the company’s success is its ability to offer developers and advertisers tools and options across the multifarious mobile platforms. While there may be a lot of industry hype about certain platforms or devices, what’s more important to advertisers is the number of users on a device and the way they’re interacting with it, Palmieri said.

I caught up with Palmieri at OnMedia 2010 and we discussed his company’s growth, brands jumping headfirst into the mobile space and the lack of Flash on the iPad.

what’s with the 45 degree skew on the camera? Very silly and totally unnecessary. Takes away from the content.
