ADOTAS – With the latest Facebook redesign, the notification window in the lower right corner is going the way of the dinosaur in the next 30 days. Now when an application wants to update you, it’ll send you an email
Announced with the introduction of its developer roadmap, the Facebook platform has finally introduced the ability for apps to ask — or require — a user to fork over his/her email address. Now developers can directly connect with their users and forget about Facebook’s messaging quotas.
However, as users are already inundated with email, many updates are likely to end up in spam folders. Still, when Facebook first laid out the developer roadmap, Buddy Media CEO Micheal Lazerow commented: “Email is still the number one digital marketing technology and bridging email marketing and social media is a huge opportunity.”
