Digital Wednesdays Holiday Bash

ADOTAS – This past week I attended one of the few holiday parties I have been excited about. The Digital Wednesdays end of year holiday party was fun and casual but still bustling with classy people, great drinks and a lot of networking.

In the newly re-opened restaurant in the Hotel Gansevoort, Tanuki Tavern is hip and sleek with a welcoming feel. It has less of a club-like atmosphere than Ono had, but has a secret room/entrance to a club in the back for regular Gansevoort clubbers such as Lindsey Lohan, who was partying with many models that evening. If anything, that brought the restaurant down a few points.

Overall however, the night was great. Many people had a good networking experience and just a really fun time toasting the end of a crazy year.

• Right now, at the beginning of 2012, what are you watching the most closely for its ad and marketing opportunities?

  • Mobile. Smart devices have become standard, and advertising is only going to become more creative there.
  • Online video. It's a real competitor to TV now, and it presents really interesting ways to engage viewers.
  • Social media. The new Facebook timeline and the surge of Google+ have cracked the game wide open again.
  • Tempting as it might be, I don't want to get too involved in one aspect.
  • See, I think this might be a good time to see what would happen if we revisited MySpace, but made the ads slightly bigger... with more strobe effect.
