Craigslist and eBay Take It To The Courts

fight_small.jpgADOTAS – On Friday, Jim Buckmaster claimed that the then CEO of eBay, Meg Whitman “slammed the door” on a request he made in 2007 to find a new owner to take over the Craigslist shares held by eBay. He went on to insinuate that Whitman gave him the impression that eBay would be acquiring Craigslist, according to reports.

An email sent to Buckmaster from Whitman led him to believe “eBay and its CEO, Meg Whitman, were going to turn their back on promises she made to us,” he stated.Buckmaster and Craigslist founder Craig Newmark created a “coercive plan” to dilute eBay’s stake in the company and eliminate its board seat after the “frienemy” launched Kijiji, an online classified business in hopes of competing with Craigslist.

Craigslist has sued eBay claiming the company was using its board seat to use confidential information about the firm for its benefit.
