* Software marketplaces that are not a cross between the movies “Brazil” and “Evita,” with Phil Schiller shoving Madonna off a balcony to pacify the crowd with multitouch gestures?

If you answered YES to any two of the above, then you’ll LOVE Androids Dream of Monadic Sheep, the next New York Scala Enthusiasts Meetup. In this overview of Android development in Scala, we’ll cover the standard Android SDK setup, the android-plugin for the Scala builder simple-build-tool, and the Scala source for an Android application that takes event pictures and uploads them to Meetup. Finally, we will install the application to a Droid and upload pictures of our Meetup.

  • Online video. It's a real competitor to TV now, and it presents really interesting ways to engage viewers.

  • Tempting as it might be, I don't want to get too involved in one aspect.
  • See, I think this might be a good time to see what would happen if we revisited MySpace, but made the ads slightly bigger... with more strobe effect.
