ad:tech Chicago Is a No-Go

adtech_small.jpgADOTAS – Cancel your plans for the windy city next year — the online ad world may be recovering, but ad:tech expositions is postponing ad:tech Chicago 2010 in favor of its coastal high performers in New York City and San Francisco.

“The decision was difficult,” said Susan MacDermid, senior vice president of dmg world media, the parent company of ad:tech expositions. “But we’re seeing a variety of signs that the industry prefers fewer, larger events.”

Topics regularly discussed at the more Midwest-centric event will be moved to the New York and San Francisco conferences. ad:tech will decide at the end of 2010 whether to resurrect the Chicago conference.

Support groups to help deal with this loss will be meeting at a bar near you, soon as happy hour kicks off.

Say it ain’t so. I loved the Chicago events, actually more than San Fran. Nothing will top NYC though.

Can NY get bigger?
