Equivalent of pipe available for Twitter addicts
ADOTAS – If you buy a TwitterPeek, you might have to admit your addiction — the next question is whether there’s a 12-step program available for you.
Peek, which also produces the Peek email and texting device, has just released a mobile device that has the sole function of tweeting and tweeting and tweeting. You’ll always be connected to your precious Twitter via a cell network. The slim, calculator-esque object is aimed at folks that can’t stop tweeting but can’t afford one of them expensive smartphone plans.
It’s a lot cheaper — the $99 device includes six months of nationwide service and every additional month is only $7.95. For about $200, you can have service as long as the device lives.
That might be a good enough selling point, especially as the holiday season approaches. Sure people love the convenience of an all-in-one smartphone (with a downloadable Twitter function), but data plans can plague the wallet. Maybe you can gift one to that guy you know who still uses a pager.
If these devices do take off, Twitter’s relevancy in mobile advertising just took on a new dimension.
