Yahoo! redesign showing promise
ADOTAS – Yahoo! just may be “you” after all — at today’s annual Analyst Day, senior vice president Tapan Bhat revealed some impressive stats from the first three months since the debut of the new homepage.
Time spent on Yahoo!’s homepage is up 20%, with page views increasing by 9%. Advertisers will be intrigued that front-page ads are witnessing a 10% increase in click-through rates. Yahoo! has also witnessed a 76% increase in click-through rates on news and information targeted at each user in the “Today” module.
However, the most popular new feature is the customization of the applications on the left-hand side of the page. Just about any app from around the web can be added. Three-quarters of Yahoo! users surveyed said they loved the apps area and 40% have loaded up six to 11 on their homepages.

Did the stats people account and adjust for the increased time spent for the fact that most people took extra time to adjust to the radical new layout and were not actually interested in Yahoo’s new look?
I found myself spending more time on it just to get the hang of moving around and refinding the stuff that i wanted.
This is the 2nd time Yahoo has redesigned their homepage in, what, the last 4-5 years?
I personally hate the new Yahoo interface. I hate that the left hand side pops out all the time. I personally hate that effect.
To me, this new redesign is a failure.
