Bing beats Google to status updates in searches

bing_small.jpgADOTAS – As real-time fever continues to sweep the search nation, sources have told TechCrunch that Bing will announce today at the Web 2.0 Summit 2009 that it has inked deals with Facebook and Twitter to integrate status updates, very precious commodities.

Although it will be a few weeks before this feature is live on Microsoft’s search engine, public updates from the popular social media providers will show up in search results. However, it’s not clear whether Bing is shelling out for this data.

Google has been in discussions with at least Twitter on a similar deal for a while, but Microsoft seems to have beat its chief rival to the punch. Currently, the necessity to frequently update index user pages has hobbled both search engines in reeling in status update data.

This is quite a development for the fledgling Bing and may spur its search ad momentum.

Internally, Microsoft’s motto is “embrace, extend, extinguish”
