Industry news on appointments and finance
ADOTAS — Joost, Zattikka, Factery.net and [x+1] all had some company news recently emerge.
Zattikka, a new player in the social gaming market, has acquired browser gaming portal and iPhone publisher, Gimme5games. Terms were not disclosed. Created by videogame industry stalwart Tim Chaney and ex Yahoo! Europe CEO Mark Opzoomer, Zattikka wants to become the pinpoint destination address for internet and mobile gaming development and distribution. Key to this will be acquisition of development talent, making Gimme5games a highly desirable first acquirement, its respected team of mobile and Flash game creators, Matt Spall, Ian Willey and Ronny Batty, now all join Zattikka on a full time basis.
Mike Volpi is no longer chairman of Joost. Volpi resigned as Joost’s CEO in June, becoming chairman. He is a partner at Index Ventures — the VC firm behind Joost — which just teamed up to buy Skype from eBay, according SAI.
Factery.net, a search and answers engine that’s currently in “alpha” mode, has raised $1.2 million in funding, according to Paid Content.
[x+1], a provider of predictive marketing, has appointed Sarah Fay and Ed See to its Board of Directors. Fay was previously CEO of Aegis Media North America, which she joined in 1998. See is Executive Vice President and Senior Partner within the consulting practice of Information Resources.
