Industry news in hirings, new locations and finance


jobs_small.jpgADOTAS —  Ex-Googlers, AOL, Sapient and Exact Target had some news recently.

Days after announcing that he was resigning as the head of Google’s Chinese operations, Kai-Fu Lee said he had raised $115 million to create a company that would finance high-tech start-ups in China. (Deal Book)

AOL has appointed former Yahoo Inc executive Brad Garlinghouse as president of its Web and mobile communications group. Garlinghouse, who was most recently an advisor at venture capital firm Silver Lake Partners, will also take on a role heading up AOL’s Silicon Valley operations from its Mountain View, California campus. He will serve as the West coast lead for AOL Ventures, the company’s venture capital arm headed by Jon Brod.

Sapient has hired Scott Linnen as Creative Director. Previously, Linnen was a Vice President, Creative Director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, where, over his 16-year tenure, he helped to grow the agency from a small creative boutique of 50 people into an internationally recognized industry leader with over 900 people and marquee brands such as MINI, Burger King, Volkswagen, Domino’s Pizza and Microsoft.

ExactTarget, a global provider of on-demand email marketing and one-to-one marketing solutions, has launched a new international division in London following the acquisition of U.K.-based Keymail Marketing. The new division, which serves as the headquarters for ExactTarget’s operations outside of North America, allows the company to directly support the international needs of its multinational clients and expands its offerings to marketers in the growing UK and European markets.
