twitter_medium.jpgADOTAS — I’m still not sold on the long-term prospects for the microblogging service, but top companies aren’t waiting for me to make up my mind.

Marketers seem to be saying ‘follow me’ instead of ‘friend me.’ According to eMarketer, more Fortune 100 companies have a presence on Twitter (54%) than on Facebook (29%).

Burson-Marsteller found that top companies were using Twitter for: company news, customer service, marketing promotions and employee recruitment. And, according to Email Data Source, Twitter is also beating out Facebook’s popularity among e-mail marketers. Among the US e-mail campaigns it tracked, links to Twitter became more common than links to Facebook in March 2009.
