FIRST WEDNESDAY JULY – 7/1/09

First Wednesday JULY

Description:

The next First Wednesday is JULY 1st! Join us for a fun evening before everyone scatters for the long weekend! 



We started with seven good friends in the interactive ad business who needed a good martini on a random Wednesday. More than a year later, we’ve grown into a monthly gathering of friends and industry professionals from all over the country, gathering to network in a relaxed atmosphere. 



The original rules were simple – no shop talk and no sponsors! And those rules worked brilliantly for more than a year, but when someone is offering to buy you a drink with no strings attached, who are we to say “no”? 

So the rules are changing! 



(1) We know you’re talking shop. Let’s be honest. We still recommend keeping it to a minimum since this isn’t a pitch party, but we are relaxing the “no shop talk” just a bit. 



(2) We’re going to have sponsors, but rest assured we fully intend to hold ourselves to our original charter, which was and still is to create an environment that allows us all to mingle without being heavily sold to. It won’t get out of hand. We promise. 



We’re still simple, casual and increasingly fun. 



Bring friends, bring colleagues, bring clients! 



Olives reserves space for us in the lobby lounge, so ask for First Wednesdays if you’re there first.

• Right now, at the beginning of 2012, what are you watching the most closely for its ad and marketing opportunities?

  • Mobile. Smart devices have become standard, and advertising is only going to become more creative there.
  • Online video. It's a real competitor to TV now, and it presents really interesting ways to engage viewers.
  • Social media. The new Facebook timeline and the surge of Google+ have cracked the game wide open again.
  • Tempting as it might be, I don't want to get too involved in one aspect.
  • See, I think this might be a good time to see what would happen if we revisited MySpace, but made the ads slightly bigger... with more strobe effect.
