The Anti-Advertising Salon (Creative Week NYC)

Date: 5/7/09 – 7 am

Location: Meet at the Apartment

Cost: By Invitation – RSVP reqd

The long-standing battle between art and advertising wages on, with artists attempting to reclaim public spaces from the onslaught of branded messaging. Subvertising – or subverting traditional advertising – can be found on billboards, bus stop benches, even digital media. Now the marketing and advertising industry must adapt to work with such artists, instead of working against them. What does this mean for the future of advertising? Meet at the Apartment aims to facilitate a discussion to turn advertising on its head and re-think how to promote brands. For this event, we will curate a panel, moderated by The Wooster Collective, including some of the renegades leading the subvertising charge: Steve Lambert, artist and creator of Anti-Advertising Agency and Jordan Seiler of The Public Ad Campaign
