Yahoo using images and video in paid search

yahoo_dark_small.jpgADOTAS — Yahoo has created a search advertising that integrates images and video in paid listings.

Starting today, the company will begin rolling out Rich Ads in Search and expects to continue the process on a worldwide basis over the next several weeks. By introducing video and images, the new technology is expected to give its search some of the advantages of banner advertisements.

“Today’s announcement marks the beginning of a rapid succession of innovations from Yahoo! Search that will deliver against our mission of providing the highest quality search experience on the Web,” Jeff Weiner, senior vice president, Yahoo! Search and Marketplace, said in a statement. “Within the next few weeks and months, consumers will continue to see improvements to Yahoo!’s search technology in addition to advancements in search personalization and other user features.”

Yahoo is also introducing a new search service that integrates search with My Yahoo by adding links to XML/RSS site syndication content in search results. This service enables users to search for millions of sites that support this format and easily add them to their My Yahoo! personal homepage. Once added to their page, users will see instantly updated headlines and links from these sites, keeping them in touch with all of their important information from the Internet in a single place.

It’s a good thing too, as the latest comScore continues to show Google’s dominance.
