Hiring, promotion roundup
ADOTAS — VMIX, CJRW, Interpret LLC, GamePro Media, KARMA Media Labs, Pandora Media, Gray & Partners, Kaboodle, Balsera Communications announced hirings and appointments.
VMIX
VMIX has opened a New York City office and hired Ted Utz to head New York operations. Utz was formerly VP of National Sales at CBS Television Stations Digital Media Group, WorldNow, and Clear Channel Interactive. VMIX began its East Coast expansion last July with a new Atlanta office, and also recently bulked up its San Diego headquarters team with the addition of Brehnen Knight as Regional Director of Business Development. Knight had been with Brickfish, a top social media marketing firm.
Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods
Jay Cranford was promoted to Senior Vice President /Creative Director. Cranford joined CJRW in 2007 as Vice President/Creative Director and has been responsible for overseeing the agency’s creative product for broadcast, print, film, interactive, outdoor, guerrilla marketing and event planning.
He immediately began his advertising career in Los Angeles, working on the Toyota account at Saatchi & Saatchi. Jay then spent nine years with TBWA/Chiat/Day where he crafted creative campaigns for some of America’s best-known brands like Sony Playstation, Energizer Batteries, Nissan, Unocal, L.A. Gear, and Quaker State Motor Oil.
Interpret LLC
Michael Gartenberg was appointed Vice President of Strategy and Analysis. Prior to joining Interpret LLC, Gartenberg was Vice President and Research Director at Jupiter Research (now owned by Forrester Research) where he led coverage on emerging consumer technology platforms. Before joining Jupiter Research, Gartenberg had the roles of Managing Director at Hudson Ventures, a Manhattan-based venture capital firm and Vice President and Research Area Director of Gartner Inc.,
GamePro Media
Marci Yamaguchi Hughes has been appointed executive vice president and general manager of GamePro Media, publisher of GamePro Magazine and Gamepro.com. Yamaguchi Hughes most recently served as senior vice president of sales for the game group at Ziff Davis Media, which included 1UP.com, FileFront.com, and EGM Magazine (Electronic Gaming Monthly)
Kaboodle
Erika Lenkert was hired as vice president of content. Previously, she was the founding executive editor of Glam.com, a flagship of Glam Media.
KARMA Media Labs
Allison Mills has been named Creative Director with KARMA Media Labs. She was previously Creative Director with The Walt Disney Company.
Wendi Laski was hired Director of Publicity and Media Relations. She previously served as Unit Publicist for Happy Madison (Adam Sandler).
Pandora Media
Brian Mikalis was hired for the newly created position of vice president, performance sales. Prior to joining Pandora, Mikalis was the director of business development at AdReady. Before AdReady, Mikalis led sales teams for AOL in both San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Gray & Partners
The full service ad agency opened its corporate headquarters at 75 Arlington Street, Suite 500, in Boston Massachusetts. President Reagan Gray is directing all Account Services from the new Boston office. New Creative Strategist & Partner, Karen Albrektsen brings extensive experience in retail buying, financial consulting, and brand development to the team. And new Partner & Director of Business Development, Jon Patsavos, brings more than 10 years of political fundraising, campaign work, and extensive contacts to the firm. Jon has managed fundraising and promotional campaigns for federal candidates including: Joe Kennedy, Jim McGovern, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton for President, and most recently Jeanne Shaheen for Senate.
Gray & Partners also announced that it has launched its new Website.
Balsera Communications
Vince Casillas was hired to head up its new D.C. office. Casillas, most recently the national Hispanic press secretary for the Obama campaign, will be responsible for servicing existing clients and developing new business. During 2009, the firm will be aggressively growing its Hispanic focused public policy and political communications practice for issue advocacy organizations, federal agencies, non-governmental organizations and large corporations.
Casillas also worked on the political campaigns of Richard M. Daley for Mayor 2007 in Chicago, Illinois and served as a strategist and operations manager for the Iris Martinez for Illinois State Senator Campaign. He went on to become the lead organizer and lobbyist for the Illinois Latino Caucus for A+ Illinois.
