MySpace and Anonymity

myspace103.jpgADOTAS — As Facebook gains, MySpace has been revamping some of its features, including pushing for members to use real names.

Michael Arrington says it’s a good move because they and Google want users to log in to third party sites using their account credentials and doing it with real names gives them a competitive advantage.

As others have, Arrington is bullish on the next year being a blossoming of social media networks, but I’m still not convinced that using real names is an advantage for everyone. Open social sites such as Sodahead just make it easier for its apps to move around the web.

Some of the commenters added that Myspace needs to find a different niche to fill within the social media network, not the same one filled by Facebook.

I love myspace because you can be creative and express yourself with html and such.
This is something that myspace will always have and I’m sure facebook won’t, therefore I will always love myspace better.

Paul,
You’re probably right, but I went where my friends are. And they’re all on facebook.
