Facebook, MySpace Revenue Forecasts Plummet
ADOTAS – More bad news for social networking sites: eMarketer has cut their ad-spending forecast for the second time this year.
eMarketer predicts that interactive advertisers will spend $1.2 billion for ads on Facebook and MySpace (in May, the company said $1.4 billion and in the beginning of the year eMarketer predicted $1.6 billion).
As with every other re-tooled set of predictions, eMarketer said the economy is to blame, but added that poor performance was a factor. MySpace’s revenue prediction dropped from $755 million to $585 million. Facebook’s revenue forecast dropped from $265 million to $210 million.
Vast audiences, and still a vast opportunity for advertisers who find that illusive ad formula that will really engage users.
