AOL Needs Therapy

aol.jpgADOTAS — AOL is like a middle-aged man who has been going to therapy for years but still can’t figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.

Or so it seems. As rudderless Yahoo loses or jettisons talent, Microsoft plays coy, and Google expands its reach, the original online 800-pound gorilla AOL picks up a social media network that a CEO calls its “riskiest acquistion” of the year and dithers on what its future plan is.

Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes keeps talking but doesn’t really say much. What’s going on with Yahoo? Are things progessing with Microsoft? Is Time Warner going to wring every last penny out of AOL.  As Henry Blodget says, Bewkes answers none of these questions, and does anyone really care anymore?
