Is Apple Building Google-Rivaling Search Engine?

googlesucks_small.jpgADOTAS – Watch your back Google: first your stock tanks (it was trading at $282.46 as of 10 a.m.) and now Apple may be cranking out a search engine specifically designed to rival yours, according to TechCrunch.

Google may have got the competitive ball rolling when it rolled out Android, in a bid to compete with Apple’s iPhone. Also, it just makes sense. Apple’s Safari browser has 6-7% market share, uses Google as the search engine for iPhone, and has a gaggle of productivity tools through Mobile Me that draws users to its servers, TechCrunch reports.

However, the site also said that according to its sources, Apple hasn’t been hiring search employees, an obvious necessity when building a search engine.

So while the move to build a competing search engine makes sense in theory, an actual engine may be just that – a really good idea at this point.
