Boxee Lands $4M for Media Center Product
ADOTAS – Software upstart Boxee has landed $4 million in its first round of funding. Union Square Ventures and Spark Capital participated. Boxee plans to take on major players like Apple and Microsoft in the fight to license a media player that connects home TVs to the Internet.
Boxee’s software runs on Apple TV (with a USB drive), Macs and PCs. The software has a social networking feature, allowing users to share what they’ve watched and listened to with their friends.
The company is looking for major content provider partners.
